令和7年度　入学式を行いました

校長　式辞（全文）

　皆様、おはようございます。そして、ご入学おめでとうございます。
お忙しい中ご来場いただいたご来賓の皆様、保護者の皆様にも、心より感謝申し上げます。

　本日は、この学校にとっても、皆様にとっても、そして私にとっても、歴史的な一日となります。なぜなら、少子化が進む中、これだけ多くの生徒が集まってくれたのは、本当に素晴らしいことだからです。

　私が校長になって3年目になりました。この2年間で、我々が進めてきた文理の教育改革がようやく形になってきました。現在、文理には、いくつかの特色あるクラスができました。スポーツ＆アート活動に特化したクラス（高校では別々に展開）、学力を重視するアカデミッククラス、そして生徒中心型教育を実践し、プロジェクトを通じて学ぶクリエイティブクラスです。さらに、勉強も部活やプロジェクトもバランスよくやりたい生徒のためのデュアルクラス、そして先端サイエンスの道を進人のための、理数科先端サイエンスクラス。クラスは様々あり、所属する生徒も様々な能力やスキルを持っています。

　『学校はミニ社会であるべきだ、できるだけ現実社会を反映しなければならい』と、世界的に有名な教育学者であるJean Piagetが、ちょうど100年前にそう語りました。まさに本校ではそんな学校像を目指していきます。

　西武文理の教職員一同を代表して宣言します。我々は、人間がそれぞれ違った知性・力を持っていることを理解し、尊重しています。すべての分野で強い人もいなければ、すべての分野で弱い人もいません。だからこそ、生徒一人ひとりが自分の分野で輝けるように、教育の多様化を進めてきました。これこそが、現代社会におけるトップレベル教育だと確信しています。学校は本来、『人間を育てる場所』であり、『人生で最初の人間関係を学ぶ場所』でなければなりません。しかし、ここ40年の間に、日本の教育は大学受験中心となり、ひとりひとりの良さや個性を見ようとせず、『工場のような教育』へと変わってしまいました。私はこれを『教育の塾化』『教育のマクドナルド化』と呼んでいます。画一的で上からの価値観を押しつける教育に、未来はありません。

　西武文理では、私たち教員は答えを押しつけるのではなく、あなた自身が、自分でその場に応じた”正解”を見つけることを支援することに誇りを持っています。また、社会と連携した“ガチ”のプロジェクトも数多く用意しています。制服デザイン、学校ホームページの制作、狭山市と連携したハロウィン祭り、有名人へのインタビューを通じたポッドキャスト番組、スポーツデータ分析、プロジェクトは他にも様々あります。今年からは、アートクラス発足に伴い、YouTubeやTikTokでのドラマ制作なども始まります。

　西武文理の教育は、「生徒をなめない教育」。むしろ生徒を共同作業の一員とみなし、学校運営そのものを学びの題材に変えていく。これが西武文理のスタンスです。

　最後に私からお願いが3つと、校長命令が1つです。

【1つ目のお願い】
たくさん失敗してください。
Don’t be afraid of making mistakes.

失敗するなら、今です。学校にいる間です。ただし、毎回この2つの質問を自分に投げかけてください。
1. なぜ失敗したのか？（＝課題発見）
2. 次はどうすれば成功できるか？（＝改善策）
失敗は悪ではありません。むしろ、成功への必要なプロセスです。反省もせず、改善もせずに同じ失敗を繰り返すこと、それだけが問題なのです。失敗を恐れず、むしろ前向きに受け入れてください。

【2つ目のお願い】
宇宙の原理を忘れないでください。
Never forget the natural rule of the universe.

宇宙の原理とは、「無からは何も生まれない」ということです。nothing is made, everything is transformed 我々人間は、他の生命体のエネルギーを得て生きています。つまり、何かを得るためには、必ず何かを差し出す必要があるということです。無料で手に入るものはありません。SNSでも、あなたの得になりますよという話を見ても、まずは絶対に信じないでください！無からは何も生まれません、必ず何かと引き換えになります。大学合格、部活での勝利、友人関係、どれも同じです。努力、時間、勇気、行動。何かを払うことで、何かが得られます。そして, その取引で最も大事な素材は、想像力です。今この世界にあるものは、すべて誰かが**「想像したもの」**です。最初は「そんなの無理だ」と言われても、想像した人がいたから、現実になりました。想像しなければ、現実は生まれません。想像は、現実の母です。自分にしか見えない未来、自分にしかできない挑戦。ぜひそれを、想像して、行動して、実現してください。私もこの教育改革について、あなたには無理だ、外国人だし、日本の学校は硬いから無理だと言われてきました。結果的には、日本の学校の先生は優しいし、何も問題なくみんなでたくさん勉強し、改革を進めてきました。まず想像、それがなければ何も始まりません。そのあと、宇宙の原理を頭に、道のりをきちんと歩めば、必ず辿りたい地平線が見えてきます。

【3つ目のお願い】
愛する力を持ってください。
Have the power to love.

これからの時代に最も必要なのは、「愛の力」だと私は思います。家族、仲間、好きな人を愛するのは簡単です。でも、意見が違う人、文化や宗教が違う人、知らない人を理解し、許し、受け入れようとする力。それが、本当に人間らしい力です。偏差値で人を判断し、上下関係でしか見られないような教育では、そうした愛の力は育ちません。文理では、学力と同じくらい、他人を尊重する力、人間を愛する力を育てていきたいと考えています。

皆さんには、ぜひこの学校で、あなたにしか出せない光を放ってほしい。まぶしいくらいに輝いてください。我々教職員は、あなたを全力でサポートします！

Good morning, everyone. And congratulations on your enrollment.

Today marks a historic day—not only for this school, but for all of you, and for me as well. That’s because, in an age of declining birthrates, it is truly wonderful that so many students have gathered here. (If this is for high school: Also, a warm welcome to those watching from the small hall.) I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our distinguished guests and the parents who have taken time out of their busy schedules to be here today.

This is my third year as principal.Over the past two years, the educational reform we’ve been working on at our school has finally started to take shape.Currently, Bunri offers several uniquely specialized classes:A class dedicated to sports and the arts (separated into different tracks in high school),An academic class that emphasizes academic excellence,And a creative class where student-centered education is practiced and learning is done through projects.Additionally, we have a Dual Class for students who wish to balance both academics and club or project activities, and the Advanced Science Class for those who want to pursue cutting-edge science.Each class is unique, and the students in them possess diverse abilities and skills.

Jean Piaget, a world-renowned educational theorist, said nearly 100 years ago that "a school should be a miniature society and must reflect the real world as much as possible. "That is exactly the vision we aim to achieve at Bunri.

On behalf of all faculty and staff at Bunri, I make this declaration: We understand and respect the fact that every individual possesses different forms of intelligence and strengths. No one is strong in every field, nor is anyone weak in all of them. That is precisely why we’ve promoted diversity in education—so each student can shine in their own domain.This, we believe, is what top-level education in today’s society should look like.School is, by nature, “a place to nurture human beings” and “a place to learn your first human relationships in life.” However, over the past 40 years, Japanese education has become centered around university entrance exams,failing to recognize the strengths and individuality of each student—transforming education into something more like a factory. I call this the “cram school-ification” and the “McDonald-ization” of education. Standardized, top-down value-imposing education has no future.

At Bunri, we take pride in not imposing answers on students, but instead supporting you in discovering the “right answer” that fits the moment and situation. We also offer a wide range of real projects in collaboration with society. Uniform design, school website development, the Halloween festival in partnership with Sayama City, a podcast series featuring interviews with celebrities, sports data analysis, and many more. And starting this year, with the launch of the Art Class, we’ll also begin producing dramas for YouTube and TikTok.

The education at Bunri is about “never underestimating students.”Rather, we treat students as collaborators and turn the running of the school itself into a subject for learning. This is Bunri’s stance.

Finally, I have three requests for you—and one principal’s order.

【First request】
Don’t be afraid of making mistakes.

If you’re going to make mistakes, do it now—while you’re still in school. But always ask yourself these two questions: Why did I fail? (→ identifying the problem)What can I do next time to succeed? (→ making improvements)Failure is not a bad thing. In fact, it is a necessary process for success. The only real problem is repeating the same mistakes without reflecting or trying to improve.

Don’t fear failure—embrace it positively.

【Second request】
Never forget the natural rule of the universe.

The rule of the universe is this: Nothing is born from nothing. Nothing is made; everything is transformed. We human beings live by obtaining energy from other living beings. In other words, to gain something, you must offer something in return. Nothing comes for free. Even on SNS, if someone says “this will benefit you,” do not believe it right away! Nothing is born from nothing—it always comes with a trade-off. College acceptance, victory in sports, friendships—they all require effort, time, courage, and action. You gain something only by giving something. And the most important ingredient in that exchange is imagination. Everything that exists in the world today is something that someone first imagined. Even if they were told, “That’s impossible,” someone imagined it—and that’s why it became reality. Without imagination, there is no reality. Imagination is the mother of reality. A future only you can see, a challenge only you can take on—please imagine it, act on it, and make it real. People told me I couldn’t carry out this education reform because I was a foreigner, because Japanese schools are too rigid. But the truth is, Japanese teachers are kind and supportive, and we’ve worked together and learned a lot—bringing this reform to life. Imagination is where it all begins. If you then walk the path with the universal law in mind, the horizon you seek will surely come into view.

【Third request】
Have the power to love.

I believe that in the coming age,the most necessary strength is the power of love. It’s easy to love your family,your friends,and the people you like.But to understand,forgive,and try to accept people who have different opinions,different cultures or religions,or who are strangers— that is true human strength. An education that only judges people by test scores or always sees things through hierarchical lenses cannot nurture such a power of love.

At Bunri,we want to foster not only academic ability,but also the ability to respect others and to love humanity.I hope each of you will shine here at this school in your own unique way.Shine so brightly that it dazzles.We,the faculty and staff,will support you with everything we’ve got!
